In the foreground, a bare-chested man with a moustache and gold necklace plays a large barrel drum with sticks, flanked by other drummers in white dhotis and maroon shawls. Behind them, a decorated ratha/chariot with golden canopy, coloured tassels and flower garlands is visible, and a man in a white shirt and red-banded dhoti plays a long wind instrument. Onlookers, some with cameras, stand along the dusty road under trees.2010-12-20December 16 20172017-12-16Five young male drummers perform outdoors on a concrete terrace with palm trees and a stone wall behind them under an overcast sky. Each plays a barrel drum with yellow rope lacing and red-maroon drum bags. The two central drummers wear orange dhotis with gold borders and bare upper bodies with rudraksha malas and red arm bands; the outer drummers wear white dhotis with gold borders and similar malas. Several have white horizontal forehead markings. The drummers are the only physical people visible and no portrait of a person appears in the frame.2015-08-31December 20 20102010-12-20Night photo of a bare-chested man walking on a paved path carrying a large red-and-white wrapped drum (thappu-style percussion drum) slung over his shoulder by a green and white checked cloth and strap. He wears an orange dhoti with a yellow border, has a red tilak on his forehead, a thin gold chain, and a red thread on his wrist.
