A man with a bare upper body and an orange dhoti and orange head cloth stands at left beside a deity murti and garlanded offerings. Behind the fire, a long row of young people in orange robes and orange head cloths stand and gesture, with a woman in white saree among them. At right, a man seated on a gold-decorated peetha throne with a red cushion wears a garland and rudraksha-style beads, with a person as the seated figure; his cues are the garland, beads and ceremonial throne. Striped mats cover the floor and flower garlands hang around the setting.2017-08-25September 21 20162016-09-21A photograph of an outdoor homa ceremony with a large fire burning in a square yellow-draped fire pit, surrounded by marigold garlands and flower petals. On the right, a seated man on a red cushioned throne under a gold-and-flower decorated canopy wears a white shawl, garland and dark head covering; the appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm identity, so he is described as a seated figure. Behind him stand a group of young saffron-robed children and adults in orange turbans and saffron robes, with several people in white. On the left, a priest in orange robes and orange turban, garlanded, tends the fire. Striped multicoloured mats cover the ground and brass ritual vessels sit near the pit.2017-08-25September 21 20162016-09-21A photograph of an open-sided pavilion under a corrugated roof with string lights and a hanging speaker, showing a fire ritual on a yellow-tiled fire pit. A man in orange robes and an orange turban stands at the pit, pouring offerings into the flames, while a younger attendant in orange with a rudraksha mala watches beside him. On the left, a seated figure in a red-brown robe and ornate gold garland sits on a gold and red throne, and a deity murti stands decorated with flower garlands on a second gold throne beyond the fire. A tray of lemons and red flowers lies in the foreground, a brass lamp and bowls sit nearby, and seated devotees in white and orange fill the mats in the background. A hand-held gong stands at the left edge. The scene reads as a homa or yagna.2017-04-16September 21 20162016-09-21September 05 20162016-09-05Night outdoor ritual at a fire pit (homa) with a bright flame beside a yellow-edged square altar. A man with long dark hair, a red-brown garment, rudraksha-style beaded malas and armbands sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne on a multicoloured striped mat, hands folded. Around the fire, a woman in a red sari with a microphone and garlands speaks, and a shaved-headed man in white dhoti stands bare-chested with arms crossed. Behind them about a dozen devotees in orange and saffron robes and turbans stand in a group, some with garlands. Flower arrangements, brass vessels and a standing fan fill the foreground. Several devotees are visible in the background, roughly six to twenty people in total.2017-08-22Outdoor ritual gathering with a sacred fire pit (homa) on a raised platform. A bare-chested priest in white dhoti sits cross-legged before the fire, and a second man in a red-striped shawl stands nearby. A young boy in white dhoti with a rudraksha mala sits at the right of the platform. Behind them stands an ornate golden kalasha-shaped shrine decorated with flower garlands and a deity murti. To the right, a golden throne with red cushions and marigold garlands stands empty. A woman in orange sari with white head decoration stands at left. Rows of seated devotees in white, orange, pink and green saris and white clothes face the platform, with a red-and-gold palanquin-like seat in the left foreground. A banner with a purple emblem and partial text hangs in the background.2016-02-16 +1 copies
