He sits on a cushion, one hand raised in a gesture while speaking, and a devotee in a green-bordered white sari with a rudraksha mala leans forward at left. Behind him a golden peetha backrest, orange brocade cloth draped over a seat, a bouquet of pink lilies and yellow and white flowers, and a gold-framed altar piece stand against orange curtains. In the foreground, brass bells, a kalasha-style vessel and an orange cloth hold puja items, with a lit lamp and a shell-like object. The background is a plain room with a red chair. He tips a small flame of an oil lamp with one hand while looking down. A green plate and incense sticks are visible at lower left, and a metal vessel sits on a shelf at right. The man appears to be a priest or devotee performing a lamp offering; no clear appearance cues establish him as a person.2011-07-26April 17 20162016-04-17October 06 20132013-10-06A photograph of a shaved-headed man seated cross-legged on the floor performing a puja. A seated man in an ochre-orange robe and a long garland of pink, yellow and white flowers sits on an ornate gold-and-brown throne, holding a silver rod, with a white tilak on his forehead and rudraksha beads around his neck and arms. A bald man in a white dhoti and orange-bordered shawl kneels before him, washing or offering to his bare feet, which rest on a silver tray of flowers and petals. Silver puja plates with oil lamps and offerings sit in the lower right corner. The seated figure has distinctive ochre robes, a gold pendant and a garland, which are probable cues for a person, while the kneeling devotee is in white.2012-12-04 +2 copies
