A photograph of a priest performing a homa fire ritual outdoors in front of a red wall. He sits cross-legged on the ground, bare-chested, wearing a white dhoti with a green and red patterned cloth draped over his shoulder and a heavy gold necklace with a pendant. White sacred ash lines mark his forehead and arms, and he holds a small object in his right hand over a metal bowl. Before him a brick fire pit burns with bright flames, surrounded by yellow and pink marigold flowers, fruits, and a brass oil lamp to the left. Garlands and flower-decorated pots sit along the right side. Only one person is visible.2016-01-30A photograph of a homa fire ritual in a courtyard. A shaved-headed man in white dhoti and shawl with gold border sits cross-legged before a fire pit built of brick with yellow flower petals on it. He wears a gold bead garland with a small pendant and gold bangles, and pours an offering from a ladle into the flames. Nearby stand a brass bowl of yellow liquid, a silver plate of offerings, and a glass vessel with a coconut and leaves. A potted palm and red pillars stand behind. The man has no visible saffron, rudraksha or crown cues, so his identity is not established.2011-12-28May 02 20172017-05-02A homa fire ritual in progress on a sunlit outdoor terrace.
