A dense crowd of devotees sits on the floor of an ornate gold-decorated temple hall, many wearing white or fresh flower garlands of white jasmine. In the centre a woman in a teal green saree stands with her back partly turned, holding a brass plate or lamp toward seated devotees, as if performing aarti. Behind them, elaborately decorated deity murtis and altar figures are adorned with garlands, and colourful triangular banners hang from the walls. Men in white dhotis and women in silk sarees in pink, purple and maroon sit close together, several elderly, with a small child among them.
