Outdoor Janmashtami celebration at an ashram courtyard: a red metal frame hangs a clay pot overhead while devotees in orange, red and saffron clothes stand around several metal drums on sandy ground. A man in an orange-red dhoti and bare chest, with a shaved head, stretches an arm outward toward the crowd, and a long stick is held horizontally between participants. Women in red and orange saris and men in white and black shirts line the scene, some clasping their hands in anjali. Spray of water or powder fills the air near the pot. Trees and a red-roofed building form the background.
