A flower-decorated palanquin-style throne, covered with yellow and white garlands and red-and-white flower strings, is carried through a stepped tank of water. A man seated on the throne wears an orange garment, a red shawl and a red-and-gold stole and is seated under a yellow canopy. Water sprays up in an arc beside the throne. Around it, many people stand waist-deep in the water: men in white dhotis and white shirts, and women in white, yellow, red and green saris, some holding flower garlands or kalasha-like vessels. Red-and-white stepped ghats line the back of the tank. The scene appears to be a ritual procession in water.
