Dense crowd photographed at night beside an open flame at left. Several uniformed police officers in dark blue caps stand in a line, with their backs and profiles toward the camera. A man in an orange turban and an older man with a bald head stand among the press of devotees and onlookers. Many people hold up phones or cameras. Foreground heads and white dhoti-style clothing fill the frame, and the image is blurred from movement.

In the foreground a cameraman in a light shirt films with a handheld camera, and a bright open flame. Many devotees sit or stand closely together, wearing yellow, striped and white clothes. Several people in the crowd wear blue caps, and a figure in the right foreground wears an orange-red turban with a white ritual shirt. The turban wearer's appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm an identity, so he is described only by role.2006-12-04February 10 20092009-02-10 +1 copiesApril 05 20122012-04-05April 22 20162016-04-22December 04 2006 - Karthikai Deepam, Tiruvannamalai2006-12-04December 04 2006 - Karthikai Deepam, Tiruvannamalai2006-12-04Night procession at an ashram with a dense crowd in warm lamplight. Central focus is a flower-garlanded deity murti of Venkateshwara flanked by two smaller silver-faced utsava murtis, carried on a palanquin beneath a red-and-green umbrella. Bare-chested priests in traditional dhoti, one holding a brass aarti lamp with a flame, others with sacred thread and white forehead tilak. On the right, a figure in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban wears gold beaded necklaces, while a man in white shirt wears a blue lanyard. Many devotees press around, several in white and some with shaved heads. Burning flames rise near the procession.2013-02-11A dense, hazy crowd fills a hall hung with garlands of marigold and red flowers. Many hands are raised in the air, some holding mobile phones, and a bright open flame glows in the centre background. In the foreground, several men wear pale green or yellow peaked caps and khaki uniforms. Smoke and warm light blur the scene, and no individual is clearly identifiable as a known figure from appearance alone.2006-12-04
