Dense crowd photographed at night beside an open flame at left. Several uniformed police officers in dark blue caps stand in a line, with their backs and profiles toward the camera. A man in an orange turban and an older man with a bald head stand among the press of devotees and onlookers. Many people hold up phones or cameras. Foreground heads and white dhoti-style clothing fill the frame, and the image is blurred from movement.2006-12-04December 04 2006 - Karthikai Deepam, Tiruvannamalai2006-12-04April 24 20162016-04-24April 24 20162016-04-24April 22 20162016-04-22July 16 20062006-07-16April 05 20122012-04-05December 04 2006 - Karthikai Deepam, Tiruvannamalai2006-12-04A dense night crowd fills a hall at an evening event. In the foreground, a man in a checked shirt and a man in a striped shirt face the camera, and several uniformed police officers in khaki with peaked caps move through the crowd; one officer in the centre points with an outstretched arm. A cameraman with a tripod-mounted camera stands at upper left, and another man holds a camera at right. Women in saris and salwar kameez, many in white and pink, stand among the spectators. Beyond them a raised stage area shows a green and red carpet and white-clad figures near the back. No clearly identifiable person is visible in the image, and the event context is not shown in the frame.2008-11-11A dim, crowded night scene inside a temple hall decorated with white and yellow marigold garlands and hanging red lights. In the foreground a cameraman in a light shirt films with a handheld camera, and a bright open flame. Many devotees sit or stand closely together, wearing yellow, striped and white clothes. Several people in the crowd wear blue caps, and a figure in the right foreground wears an orange-red turban with a white ritual shirt. The turban wearer's appearance is not clearly distinctive enough to confirm an identity, so he is described only by role.2006-12-04A dense, hazy crowd fills a hall hung with garlands of marigold and red flowers. Many hands are raised in the air, some holding mobile phones, and a bright open flame glows in the centre background. In the foreground, several men wear pale green or yellow peaked caps and khaki uniforms. Smoke and warm light blur the scene, and no individual is clearly identifiable as a known figure from appearance alone.2006-12-04February 10 20092009-02-10 +1 copies
