A photograph of a ceremonial water procession on a flight of red-painted steps leading into water. A raised platform draped with white cloth and orange fabric carries a deity murti decorated with garlands of yellow and multicoloured flowers, beneath a colourful multi-panelled umbrella. Beside it stands a gilded framed portrait of a seated figure in orange robes with a rudraksha mala and garland, also garlanded. A banana plant and a brass vessel sit on the platform. Four men in white shirts and white dhotis wade in the water; two in front hold brass vessels, one wearing a yellow shawl and a rudraksha mala. Another man in a yellow shawl stands on the steps behind the platform.

In the foreground, several young men in white dhotis and white shirts stand waist-deep in the water; two in the centre wear saffron-and-white cloth over the shoulders and gold-coloured garlands, and one holds a small brass vessel. Behind them, a raised white-draped platform holds a decorated deity murti with flower garlands, green banana leaves and a multicoloured parasol above. A framed portrait in saffron robes with a yellow flower garland stands beside it under a saffron parasol. A man in white clothing sits on the platform at right, and another stands in white on the right edge of the water. The scene appears to be a water-based puja or procession rite.2010-09-12
