A shaved-headed priest in saffron and orange robes kneels at a yellow-rimmed fire pit, extending his hand toward the flames where paper offerings burn. Around him, several people in white kurtas and orange-red shawls stand and move about; a woman in a white outfit and a woman in a red-orange sari hold papers, and a man in a white shirt with a red shawl holds folded sheets. Smoke rises and devotees with bare feet gather closely around the homa-style offering fire.2014-05-20February 22 20162016-02-22Night-time photograph of a homa fire ceremony on a stone-paved courtyard. Several men are bare-chested with rudraksha-style beads and necklaces, while women in white saris with red shawls stand at left. Behind the fire pit an ornate decorated altar with floral garlands, a kalasha-like arrangement and small deity figures is visible. Gold-embroidered cloth and a red cushion lie in the right foreground, and plants and string lights frame the background.2017-04-28Night photograph of a group of devotees gathered around a rectangular fire pit, a homa or yagna, with a bright flame rising from the offerings.
