December 11 20082008-12-11November 12 20102010-11-12Photograph of a night-time Karthikai Deepam ritual at a temple-style shrine with pink curtains and carved stone pillars. A tall man with long dark hair, wearing an orange robe, a heavy gold necklace and holding a bamboo staff, reaches toward a stone altar laden with oil lamps, brass vessels, fruit and sweets. A second person in orange stands behind him. Rows of small clay lamps line the step and a flower and petal rangoli glows in the lower right corner. A blue-clad deity murti sits at the left of the altar. Long dark hair, saffron robes and gold ornaments distinguish the central figure, though his identity is uncertain from appearance alone.2008-12-11A photograph of a person in an orange saffron robe bending forward to touch their forehead or lips to a carved stone ledge, a ritual gesture of reverence at a temple or shrine. The person has long dark hair and wears a long gold-beaded mala necklace with a tassel. Behind them, two young men in red and white shirts and white dhotis stand watching near an orange curtain. Carved stone pillars with floral relief and a brass lamp stand appear at left, and a tray of flowers sits at the bottom right. The person is the only figure bending in the foreground.2010-07-24September 17 20102010-09-17November 12 20102010-11-12October 31 20102010-10-31 +2 copiesNovember 07 20102010-11-07February 24 20172017-02-24December 23 20082008-12-23A photograph inside a temple hall with a grey stone platform bearing carved floral medallions. A person in an orange sleeveless top and orange dhoti, with long hair tied back and a rudraksha mala, is bent forward with hands resting on the stone ledge, pointing toward a brass bowl. Orange cloth covers a brown cushioned seat to the left, with a small mat on the floor. In the background, a figure in pink and gold robes sits near a gold-decorated shrine with garlands and brass lamps. Two people in white stand near a doorway with red grille and a curtain.2010-07-10A figure in a rust-brown dhoti and matching shawl bows forward with hands pressed to a long grey stone platform carved with scrollwork, at night in a temple-like hall. He wears a red headband, gold bangles and a beaded necklace, with long dark hair falling down his back. Behind him, two men in saffron-orange robes stand with palms joined in namaskar. Tall brass oil lamps flank the stone, a pink-and-gold cloth hangs behind, and a garlanded deity murti stands at the upper left. The floor is wet and a red-patterned mat lies under his feet.2017-02-24
