Outdoor photo of two bare-chested men in white dhotis wading into a shallow, algae-tinged lake or pond toward a rocky granite shoreline with sparse trees and grass. The man on the left has a red thread or mala around his neck and a wristwatch; the man on the right wears a red waistband. Both lean forward and reach into the water, with a few yellow flower petals and a green plastic item floating nearby. A partially visible third person stands at the right edge in dark clothing. Hazy sky.

Outdoors at a rocky lakeside with shallow water and green algae, three men wade in the water. Two shirtless men in white dhotis, one with a red sash, lean over a wooden raft or platform loaded with yellow and orange marigold garlands, flowers, cloth bundles and offerings, which they appear to be pushing or setting into the water. A third man in a white shirt and dark trousers stands in the water at the right edge. Bare grey rock and a pale hazy sky form the background, and a small plastic-wrapped item floats near the bottom right.2024-01-11October 17 20102010-10-17Four shaven-headed men sit in a row at the edge of a dark temple tank at night, bodies partly in the water, wearing white dhotis with gold borders and bare chests. The nearest man, in the foreground, has his hands cupped together in the water, apparently performing a ritual bath. Light reflections of colourful lights ripple across the water. No one in the scene has a distinctive visible cue such as long hair, a crown or saffron robes, so no a person identification is made.2016-12-23September 19 20162016-09-19Outdoor photo at a rocky lakeside. A blue-skinned Kali murti with a crown, raised hand, garland of marigolds and a white-and-pink patterned sari-like robe stands on a red wooden platform set in shallow water. Two bare-chested men in white dhotis with red-and-green borders attend it: one kneels at the water's edge tending the base, the other stands at right holding the cloth at his waist. Garlands and offering items surround the murti. Grey rock outcrops and sparse grass lie behind the water, with a small shrine visible on the far rocks. A crumpled foil packet floats near the bottom right.2024-01-11A photograph of a river ritual on the Ganga at Varanasi. Three men stand waist-deep in greenish water. The man on the left, with a long reddish-maroon cloth wrapped at the waist and a rudraksha-style bead necklace, bends forward and supports a shaved-headed man in white dhoti and shirt with gold-bordered cloth. A third man in white shirt and maroon lower cloth kneels in the water on the right, steadying the initiate. A white-clad figure stands on the stone steps at left, and a blue boat with lettering is visible at top. Water splashes around the group during the dip.2013-02-13A deity murti decorated with garlands of yellow, green, pink and white flowers sits on a gold-trimmed palanquin under a multicoloured canopy, being carried into a temple tank. Several men in white shirts and white dhotis wade chest-deep in the water, steadying the palanquin, while two priests with shaved heads and bare upper bodies, wearing white dhotis and garlands, carry ritual objects, one holding a brass vessel. A woman in white with a yellow cloth stands on the steps. A framed portrait beside the palanquin shows a seated man in orange robes with yellow flower garlands, labelled with a printed name. Steps lead down to the water, with flower petals floating on the surface.2010-09-12Photo 11731552Photo 11742779April 29 20182018-04-29 +1 copiesA photograph of a Kali murti with blue skin, a silver crown, red tongue and multiple raised arms, adorned with yellow marigold garlands and a white-and-gold ornamented garment, being carried on a wooden plank into shallow water at a rocky lake edge.
