The woman on the right wears a white sari with a red border and a teal lanyard, and pours water from a polished brass pot over the black stone lingams. The woman on the left, in a red blouse and white sari, bends forward to touch and wash the stones with her hands. A man in a red garment stands in the water behind them, and a red flag is visible at the upper right.2016-09-19May 09th 20162016-05-09A photograph of a ritual at a temple at night, with a bearded man in a rust-red turban with gold trim and heavy gold and orange-bead necklaces standing at left, his bare arm extended and holding out a small lamp or offering toward two devotees. A kneeling bare-chested man and a woman in a white sari with a gold border reach forward with cupped hands to receive it. Behind them, bare-chested and white-clad men and devotees stand near dark stone shivalingas on a wet stone ledge, with a red-and-white building in the background. The scene suggests a deepam lamp ritual at a temple.2016-12-12May 09th 20162016-05-09A photograph of a ritual gathering in a hall. In the centre, a woman in a white sari with gold borders and a red-brown sindoor-style mark on her forehead holds a small silver-rimmed pot with green leaves and an orange offering, and a beaded necklace is visible at her throat. Behind her, shirtless men wear white dhotis and sacred threads, and several seated participants in white and saffron-orange cloth sit in rows, some holding phones. The setting suggests a puja or homa-style ceremony, with a bright red and yellow backdrop behind the crowd. Visible people number roughly ten to fifteen, including partially visible figures at the edges.2017-03-16A large crowd stands and wades in water at a river ghat during a ritual bathing event. In the centre, a figure with very long dark matted hair, bare-backed and facing away, is immersed in the water while devotees gather around. Several men in white dhotis with gold borders wear gold-coloured garlands and rudraksha malas, and some women in white and orange-red saris with gold-trimmed borders and gold necklaces stand in the crowd. A man in glasses and a white dhoti with a gold border leans in, and a shaved-headed man in an orange-red garment with rudraksha beads stands at the lower right. Onlookers watch from the bank behind, and a camera operator is visible near the top.2016-05-21Devotees in white dhotis and gold-bordered shawls, with red and saffron garments, stand waist-deep in shallow water during a ritual bathing scene. In the foreground a figure with long dark hair bows forward with arms outstretched in the water, while two men in white flank them, one with a rudraksha mala and gold necklace. Other participants in red and saffron robes, gold and rudraksha necklaces, raise their arms and cheer, and a cameraman in the background films the event. Bright daylight and a crowd on the bank complete the scene.2016-05-09A photograph of a seated devotional gathering outdoors on a paved courtyard. In the foreground a bare-chested man in a white dhoti with a green-bordered cloth over his shoulder leans forward, holding a small metal vessel and pouring or offering something. Seated before him are several men with bare chests, rudraksha malas and red-brown beads on their arms, one wearing a white dhoti and a gold necklace, another with long dark hair and a tilak, and a man in the right foreground with hands pressed together in prayer. Behind them women in white saris sit among the devotees, and a garland of marigolds hangs on a red pillar at the right edge. The mood is quiet and reverent.2016-10-26 +2 copies
