Most wear white or cream saris and white blouses, some with red or orange borders and shawls, and many wear rudraksha or bead necklaces. Each woman sits before a small dark metal lingam-shaped vessel or ritual object, many with brass pots and small lamps placed around them. Some hold open books or papers, and a few lean forward in concentrated practice. The steps are lined with red-brown stone and a plain wall with a satellite dish stands behind. A small bird perches at the top left. No identifiable man is clearly visible in the scene.2017-07-03 +1 copiesPhotograph of many women in white saris and white garments seated in rows on red stone temple steps, each with a rudraksha mala around the neck. Several seated women hold small brass vessels and offering plates, and short shivalinga-style stone pillars with dark caps stand on the steps among brass pots and lamps. Red flags on poles and a woman in a red-orange dress stand at the left edge. The scene suggests a ritual gathering in a temple courtyard, with a few people standing among the seated devotees.2017-08-14February 27 20142014-02-27Night photograph of a large group of devotees seated on red-brick tiered steps at an outdoor ritual, each beside a black stone shivalinga with brass vessels and small oil lamps. Many are in white or pale clothing, others in saris and salwar kameez with garlands; some hold hands in anjali mudra or chant with eyes closed. Strings of lights and bright floodlights illuminate the scene. Several men are bare-chested with rudraksha malas, and a few women wear white or floral clothes. No clearly identifiable central figure is visible in the frame.2016-12-06
