Several have white bodies or forehead markings and garlands, and one has a white bandage over the eyes. Brass pots, kalashas, brass plates with lamps, flowers and offerings sit before the lingams, some worshippers pouring liquid from vessels. A small red flag stands at the pool edge. The scene looks like a collective abhishekam at a temple ghat.2017-07-24February 27 20142014-02-27February 19 20152015-02-19 +1 copiesJuly 24 20172017-07-24Photograph of a temple-style ritual on red stepped tiers lined with black stone lingams smeared with white ash and small brass pots and bowls. Three young men in saffron-orange cloth draped over bare shoulders sit on the steps. The central figure wears wooden rudraksha malas, white tripundra markings on his forehead and body, and holds a small brass vessel. A boy on the right, wearing a wristwatch and a gold chain, holds a small bell. Lamps, pink flowers and offerings sit on the steps. Scene suggests a puja or abhishekam setting.2017-07-31 +1 copiesA photograph of many devotees seated across tiered red steps in an outdoor ritual setting, with rows of black stone Shivalingas on each step. Most men wear white dhotis and sit bare-chested with rudraksha malas, while many others wear saffron-orange cloths. Brass vessels, bells and small oil lamps sit on the steps, and several people hold conch shells or pooja items. Red flags rise along the stairway railing, and a stage screen with a logo stands at the upper left. The setting suggests a collective puja or abhishekam of the lingas.2017-08-14Photograph of a red-brick stepped structure lined with rows of black stone shivalingas on pedestals. Many young children in matching red ceremonial clothes, with red garlands and rudraksha-style beaded necklaces, sit on the steps among the shivalingas, several holding conch shells or small brass instruments and some with tilak markings. Their attire and seating suggest a ritual chanting or blowing of conch shells, a common temple practice, though the scene is seen from above and at distance. White metal railings and green foliage frame the lower edge. No a person candidate is visible in the frame.2013-11-11
