July 18 20132013-07-18A priest sits cross-legged before a brick-built fire pit where a bright flame burns on a bed of yellow-dusted offerings with marigold petals and red flowers. He has white ash markings on his bare chest and arms, wears a saffron-orange dhoti, a pink shawl, rudraksha mala beads and glasses, and holds a silver ladle-like vessel over the fire. Behind him, other robed participants sit near a microphone stand, and floral garlands hang on the right, with a silver kalasha-style pot in the foreground. This is a homa fire ritual.2013-07-18March 02 20182018-03-02December 07 20162016-12-07A fire ritual at an open-sided tent event. Two priests stand at a rectangular fire pit, throwing offerings into a tall flame. The taller man on the right wears an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl with gold border, a green embroidered turban with pearl trim, a white floral garland and a sandalwood-marked forehead. The younger priest on the left wears a gold turban, a red and white flower garland and bangles. Both hold up handfuls of grain or offerings over the fire. Seated devotees in colourful saris and white garlands watch from behind. Brass oil lamps and a brass bowl sit at the edge of the altar, and a green blur fills the left foreground. Looks like a homa or yagna.2016-12-19July 17 20152015-07-17 +1 copiesJuly 18 20132013-07-18April 14 20182018-04-14April 14 20182018-04-14 +1 copiesJuly 16 20152015-07-16A photograph of a standing priest performing aarti with a flame-lit lamp before a deity murti decorated with flower garlands.
