A dusty, crowded outdoor fair or pilgrimage ground under hazy skies, with utility poles, sparse trees and rows of tents and flags in the background. In the foreground a shaved-headed man in a white dhoti and white shawl with a red waist cloth walks away from the camera, while a cameraman in a white shirt films with a handheld camera. Men in brown, grey and blue turbans and wraps walk among children in striped shirts, a woman in a red headscarf, and a figure in a yellow shawl. A wooden handcart stacked with glass bangles or bowls stands in the center, and women in saris sit at the lower edge.

A large crowd of people walks along a tree-lined road on an overcast day, moving toward the viewer and past bare and leafy trees. Many women wear bright saris in red, pink, orange, green and yellow, while men wear white shirts and dhotis or light trousers. Some people carry bags and a few sit on the roadside. A green-roofed stall and red and white signboards stand among the trees in the background. The mood suggests a pilgrimage walk toward a temple event.

A large, dense crowd of devotees walks along a tree-lined road at an ashram event in Tiruvannamalai. Many women wear colourful saris in pink, teal, orange and purple, while men wear white dhotis and shirts. Some carry bags and bundles. Bare, spreading trees arch overhead, with green foliage and a small red-roofed building on the left. A red signboard stands near the path, and a small stall with a green canopy sits in the background.

A dense outdoor crowd of many people fills a dusty open ground at an event, with red and orange fabric hangings and a red banner on the left and a tall, scaffold-like structure. Men in white shirts, checked shirts and jeans mingle with women in colourful saris and salwar kameez, several with pale and pink head coverings. Some men wear white cloths draped over their shoulders, and a few figures in orange and saffron clothing appear at the left edge. Yellow, pink and white umbrellas shade people near tents and green canvas on the right, with trees and utility poles in the background.

A dense outdoor crowd moves along a roadside lined with colourful umbrellas and tarpaulin stalls, under a bright sky. Most men wear white or pale shirts and dhotis, while several wear saffron-orange garments and orange cloths; a yellow shirt, a red-and-white striped shirt and checked shirts stand out. A few figures in saffron appear to be sannyasis or priests, with shaved heads. Some participants hold up hands, and a woman in orange-red sari is visible at right, with plastic pots and vessels hanging near the top left. No single figure can be confidently identified as a person from appearance.

A busy outdoor path at a mela, lined with trees and makeshift stalls on the right. Crowds of pilgrims walk and mingle under hazy winter light. A woman in a bright yellow sari with a shawl over her head walks toward the camera holding a plastic bag, with another woman in yellow beside her. A man in a dark jacket and striped scarf walks in the centre, and an older man in a white dhoti and blue shawl carries a bundle on his head. Women in red, pink and orange saris pass by, and bamboo stalls and flags stand in the background.

A wide outdoor photograph of a busy crowd moving along a tree-lined dirt path beside a gathering area. In the foreground a blurred mass of people in colourful saris and clothing streams past, while to the right several people in white dhotis and white saris stand together near a parked motorbike row. Tall leafless trees arch overhead, and red banners and a green-roofed stall stand along the route. Some people stand still while others walk, and a large crowd fills the open ground.

Aerial view of a dusty dirt road at a Kumbh Mela camp, lined on the left by tents, awnings and market stalls with yellow, red and blue tarpaulins. Many pilgrims walk in both directions, including women in saris of orange, red and green and men in shirts and trousers. A vendor sits at a small stall in the center and a person in a bright green head covering carries a bundle. Long shadows fall across the ground in low light. A hand-painted sign on the left reads a Hindi name.
