Under a red umbrella with gold floral pattern and beaded fringe, a smiling woman with long dark hair wears an orange saffron robe, a white and red flower garland, and a rudraksha mala, carrying an orange cloth. Beside her on the right, a shaved-headed man in orange robe and gold necklace walks in blue slippers. On the left, a bearded man in orange robe with rudraksha mala walks. Behind them, a woman in a blue sari, men in white dhotis and shirts, and shaved-headed boys in white cloth follow along the path.2011-05-23Photo 11744540 +1 copiesFebruary 28 20132013-02-28March 01 20162016-03-01January 13 20152015-01-13A procession on dusty ground in bright daylight. In the centre, a man with long swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead, wearing a white dhoti and shawl with gold borders, a red-and-pink flower garland and several gold necklaces, raises both palms in greeting. A red, green and white umbrella with fringed edges is held over him. Behind and beside him, attendants in saffron/orange robes wear gold beaded necklaces with pendants; one on the left has a long beard, and another on the left carries a tall golden staff with a finial. Several more people in white and orange stand in the crowd behind. The swami presence is a visible appearance cue: long swept-back hair, ceremonial gold necklaces and a white robe with gold border, marking him as a probable Swamiji in procession.2009-01-01A procession under an open-sided pavilion roof moves across a paved courtyard. A long-haired man in the centre wears a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, a heavy gold necklace, and a fresh garland of white and red flowers, smiling as he walks. Around him, saffron-clad men and women carry ceremonial items; a bare-chested man at left holds a tall gold-tipped staff beneath a teal and orange embroidered parasol with tassels. Behind, a decorated elephant-like figure with a gold palanquin-style canopy and a large bell-shaped umbrella appears, along with white-clad devotees and a person holding a camera. The scene looks like a temple procession with ratha or palanquin-style decor and fringed umbrellas.2015-01-04 +1 copiesFebruary 28 20132013-02-28 +1 copiesA procession on a red carpet in an open courtyard with a palm-lined backdrop and a large canopy shelter. A man in the centre wears a red-brown dhoti and shawl, a red and white flower garland, a gold pendant and layered rudraksha malas, and has a red-and-white tilak on his forehead; he walks forward with his hands at his sides. Behind him a bearer holds a large multicoloured fringed parasol with a pink lotus motif, and an attendant carries a smaller decorated umbrella. Surrounding them are men and women in saffron-orange and red garments, many with rudraksha malas, some with hands pressed in prayer, and drummers playing orange-bodied drums and a long horn at the left edge. Several people are sitting or standing at the edges. This is a temple-style procession with parasols and drums.2015-04-21
