Two men pull the rope that raises it. The man in front wears a maroon robe, a red and yellow marigold garland and a beaded mala. The man on the right wears an orange dhoti, is bare-shouldered and has long dark hair. Beside it, a man in a saffron-red unstitched robe with a rudraksha-style bead necklace stands with one hand on the pole and the rope, and wears a tilak on his forehead. On the right, a second figure in a dark red shawl stands at the edge of the frame. Carved reliefs decorate the pole's base and stone statues appear in the background, with palm fronds at the right. The scene suggests a flagpole raising ritual, with the flag's hoisting on the pole.2010-10-18 +1 copiesA tall copper dwajastambha flagstaff rises diagonally against a pale blue sky, wrapped with white cloth and bound near its base with leaves, yellow and red flower garlands, and dried grass. An orange-robed figure with long dark hair, a rudraksha-style necklace of beads and bare shoulders scatters petals with both hands near the pole's base. A small deity image sits in a niche on the base, and palm fronds frame the right edge.2006-12-23October 18 20102010-10-18 +1 copiesOctober 18 20102010-10-18 +1 copies
