A saffron-orange flag hangs from the mast with green leaves tied to it, and yellow ropes run up the pole. In the foreground a bare-chested man in a red-and-gold dhoti and white tilak raises one arm toward the pole, looking upward. Beside him on the left, a shaved-headed man with a bare back wears a saffron cloth and a rudraksha mala beneath a metal-roofed structure. A palm tree is visible at lower right. The scene suggests a flag-hoisting ceremony.2013-11-22December 03 20162016-12-03October 03 20162016-10-03 +1 copiesLow-angle photograph of a tall copper flagstaff (dhwajasthambha) rising from an ornate carved bronze-coloured base decorated with white and yellow marigold garlands and a palm-frond wrap. A red and gold flag is attached at the top. A man in red-brown ritual dress with a red and yellow garland and gold necklace stands beside the pole pulling its rope, and coconut palms and trees surround the courtyard under an overcast sky.2016-08-27A tall copper dwajastambha flagstaff rises diagonally against a pale blue sky, wrapped with white cloth and bound near its base with leaves, yellow and red flower garlands, and dried grass. An orange-robed figure with long dark hair, a rudraksha-style necklace of beads and bare shoulders scatters petals with both hands near the pole's base. A small deity image sits in a niche on the base, and palm fronds frame the right edge.2006-12-23Photograph taken from below of a tall copper-coloured ornamental pillar or flagstaff topped with a small box and flag, its base wrapped with white and red flower garlands on a carved wooden or stone pedestal. Beside it, a man in a rust-orange wrap with a gold necklace and red-and-white garlands looks upward with both hands raised, apparently gripping a rope. Coconut palms and an overcast sky fill the background under a tin roof edge.2016-04-10Photograph of a flag hoisting at an outdoor temple-style setting. A tall copper-coloured flagstaff, its base carved with floral and scroll motifs and wrapped with yellow and dark marigold garlands, rises at left against palm trees and a bright sky. Two men in saffron-orange robes stand at the pole. The one at centre, with a rudraksha mala around his neck and a red tilak on his forehead, raises his arm to grip a rope that pulls up a folded orange flag. The man at right, with a shaved head and orange shawl, holds a wooden tray and gathers the rope. Sunlight backlights the scene from behind the palms.2011-03-05 +1 copiesApril 14 20132013-04-14 +1 copies
