He extends a hand toward a kneeling man in a white kurta with a yellow-and-orange garland, who holds out a small pile of white powder in his palms. Beside them, a seated person in orange robes holds a metal plate of white powder, and a tray with a small red cloth holds packets. Behind them, several people in white and orange clothing stand near a wall with a black board of names, and a stone slab sits on the floor. The seated figure with white smearing on his arm and forehead is the a person, identified by long swept hair, orange robes and gold necklace; the setting suggests a ceremonial powder-offering exchange.2009-06-15Outdoor ritual under a canopy at the Salem ashram inauguration.
