December 31 20032003-12-31December 31 20032003-12-31A night-time photo of a ritual installation at an outdoor site. A man in an orange-saffron shawl and orange head wrap stands atop a mound of reddish-brown stones, holding a trident-like staff and reaching toward a dark stone linga or deity murti draped in red cloth, with a small crown-like ornament on top. Around the mound, a worker in yellow crouches at the base beside a smaller stone linga on a round stone yoni base. About a dozen men in white dhotis and shirts, and some in pink and checked shirts, stand watching in the background with lanyards, under dark trees and a string of colourful flags overhead.2003-12-31June 03 20122012-06-03December 31 20032003-12-31June 03 20122012-06-03Night photograph of a temple scene. A figure in orange-saffron cloth draped over the shoulders, bare-backed, stands at left holding a lit oil lamp in one outstretched hand toward a dark stone deity murti. The murti is adorned with garlands of yellow and red flowers and sits on a rock-like raised base with a black shivalinga-style form and a small offering in front. Other people in white and orange clothing stand partly visible at the far left edge. A small oil lamp burns on the floor near the base, and a hanging light fixture hangs from above in the dark background.2004-12-31Night ritual photograph at a dhvajarohanam flag-hoisting. A tall copper kalasha-topped flagstaff, wrapped with a green palm-leaf crown and draped with red and yellow marigold garlands, stands in the foreground. A figure with long swept-back hair, a gold necklace, bangles and an orange-and-red silk dhoti holds a gold tray and reaches toward the pole. Beside him a bald man in saffron robes with a bare upper body holds a gold plate. Behind them a third man in white robes with a tilak stands under a red-and-green fringed umbrella, with palm trees in the dark background.2011-11-29June 03 20122012-06-03 +1 copiesA standing man in saffron-orange robes draped over his head and shoulders, with a white horizontal tilak and red bindi on his forehead, wears a long gold necklace of beaded ornaments. He touches the top of a dark green stone shivalinga with his right hand, while the lingam sits on a polished stone yoni-peetha base. Behind him a second robed figure in orange is partly visible, also at the shrine. The dark background and warm lighting frame an abhishekam ritual at a temple.2009-12-16Outdoor evening ritual under dense trees beside a dark stone murti mounted on a red and white striped pedestal. In the centre, a man in saffron-orange robes and a long red-and-gold garland raises a bunch of green leaves toward the murti. Beside him, a shaven-headed man in orange holds a clear glass vessel and wears a rudraksha mala. Onlookers in white and pink stand around, some wearing necklaces, and a warm orange glow is visible behind the trees. The scene suggests a puja or abhishekam at a shrine. The central figure has long hair, saffron robes and a garland, and is presented on the page as Swamiji (probable).2012-06-03Night-time ritual outdoors beneath palm fronds. A figure with long dark swept-back hair, bare-chested except for a saffron-orange garment wrapped at the waist and a red-and-gold sash, wears gold bangles and a yellow flower garland, and holds a red and yellow canopy umbrella over a white-clad priest kneeling beside a copper kalasha topped with green grass and wrapped in red and yellow marigold garlands. Two shaved-headed attendants in orange cloth assist, one pouring from a brass vessel. The copper vessel is a ritual pot, and the scene suggests a dhvajarohanam-style consecration. Probable Swamiji present by distinctive long hair, saffron clothing and gold adornments; he is a central figure in the scene, with a total of four people visible.2011-11-29
