Outdoor photograph of an ornate decorated palanquin or ratha canopy used in a procession. The elaborate structure has a golden finial top, a large saffron-yellow umbrella-like canopy with fringe and red trim, and many tassels in blue, red, pink, green and orange hanging from gold bells. Garlands of yellow and purple flowers wrap the frame. Palm fronds and flowering trees surround it under a pale sky, and a gold carved ornament appears at the lower right. No people are visible.2010-02-12December 06 20162016-12-06December 22 20102010-12-22A festival procession on a palm-lined street in bright daylight. A large ornate golden chariot, decorated with dense garlands of marigold and purple flowers, tassels and bells, is pulled forward. A red umbrella with fringed edging is held over a figure standing on the chariot, who wears a golden crown, red and gold clothing. Several people in saffron-orange robes walk beside it, one wearing a long orange garland, and a man in white ritual clothes with a red forehead mark stands in the foreground beside men in white and a bespectacled man in a white shirt. A round decorated fan or shield is raised at left.2010-01-01January 14 20172017-01-14A man in a gold crown rides on an ornate golden palanquin-style chariot during a procession, decorated with yellow and orange marigold garlands, red and pink flower strands, and colourful silk tassels in red, orange, green and blue hanging from a canopy. He wears a red tilak on his forehead, a red garland around his neck over a bare upper body, gold necklaces, and a dark shawl, and smiles while seated on a deep blue and maroon cushioned seat. A person's hand holds a long wooden pole with an ornate gold top. Palm fronds and blue sky form the background. The visible figure is a seated man in a crown, with features and appearance I cannot confirm, so identity remains uncertain.2010-01-01March 02 20132013-03-02December 06 20112011-12-06December 16 20162016-12-16January 15 20162016-01-15A festival procession on a wooden palanquin draws a deity murti, a metal figure of a warrior god on a golden peacock vahana, heavily garlanded with red, yellow and green flower chains. A large yellow and gold umbrella with a fan-shaped finial shelters the figure, and a teal cloth hangs behind it. In the lower left, a man in an orange-red dhoti and wrap stands beside the palanquin, wearing a patterned conical crown, a beaded necklace and a bangle, and holding its frame. Palm trees and a bright sky fill the background. He is not clearly identifiable as a specific person, so no a person candidate is asserted.2011-10-31October 16 20102010-10-16 +1 copies
