A photograph of a ritual at an outdoor temple courtyard. A young priest with a shaved head, bare-chested, wearing a white dhoti and an orange-gold shawl and gold chain, sits cross-legged before a white stone fire pit (homa kund) filled with dark ash, his palms pressed together in prayer. A silver bowl and a ladle stand nearby. Behind him, brass kalashas with mango leaves and flower garlands line a red-draped altar, with small oil lamps burning. A large deity murti in red and yellow garments with gold ornaments and garlands stands at right, and a green-backed throne holds a smaller decorated figure.
