A photograph of a homa fire ritual. A man seated on a silver-ornamented wooden chair wears a rust-red turban and a rust-red cloth wrapped around his waist, with a long rudraksha mala and a silver necklace on his bare chest. White horizontal stripes are painted on his upper arm and shoulder. He stirs an oblation with a silver ladle into a silver bowl, beside a square brick fire pit where a flame rises. Silver vessels, a silver kalasha-like pot, lamps and fruit sit on a purple cloth in front, and a carved dark wooden doorway stands behind him against a stone wall. Because the page names a person and the visible cues are a red turban, rudraksha mala and ceremonial silver necklace, this may be a person, presiding over the homa with an ordinary ritual role.

A seated priest in orange-red robes and a matching orange turban performs a homa beside a sunken square fire pit with bright flames, marigold-yellow and white floral garlands, and brass vessels with offerings on a blue-and-red cloth. He wears a long rudraksha mala with a large gold ornament, reads from an open book, and has white tilak marks on his arms and forehead. Behind him, several figures in orange sit in the dim hall, and at right a young man in white dhoti with a gold-and-rudraksha necklace sits by the offerings.
