January 15 20242024-01-15A close photograph of a terracotta pot filled with bubbling yellow liquid. Dry sticks burn with red embers between two orange-brown perforated bricks on a concrete slab. Turmeric powder dusts the rim of the pot. No people are visible, and the scene suggests an outdoor cooking offering for a Pongal-style harvest festival.2024-01-15MAy 27 20212021-05-27MAy 27 20212021-05-27Overhead photo of a steaming metal vessel on a grey paved ground. The wide round pot holds a pale, frothy liquid giving off thin wisps of steam. Its base is wrapped with a golden cord and tucked with a knob of ginger or turmeric root, and red and yellow dried flower petals are scattered around it, with white ash or grains dusted on the pavement. No people are visible; this appears to be a ritual offering vessel, possibly milk or a sweet preparation being heated in a puja setting.2022-01-13January 14 20172017-01-14January 15 20242024-01-15January 16 20122012-01-16A brass pongal-style cooking pot sits on a painted clay stove over a lit wood fire on an asphalt parking lot. The pot is garlanded with a yellow carnation, a red carnation, and a yellow flower with a sprig tied with gold string, and steam rises from its open mouth. The stove base is decorated with white and green painted floral and wave motifs. Split firewood is stacked beside it, with dried palm fronds on the ground and suburban houses and palm trees visible in the background. No people are visible. This matches a ritual cooking offering.2022-01-13January 15 20162016-01-15 +1 copiesJanuary 14 20142014-01-14Jan 16 2023 sripuram2023-01-16
