A photograph of devotees crowding in a temple hall in front of a large deity murti decorated with yellow and pink flower garlands and a gold-coloured face. In the foreground, a bare-chested man with a long, unkempt hairstyle and white tilak marks on his forehead stands facing away, wearing a red thread around his neck. Nearby, a man in a white shirt and a man in a checked shirt stand among others in white and pink clothing, some with arms raised toward the murti. Carved stone pillars frame the dim interior. A temple sanctum entrance with a deity murti heavily decorated with red, yellow and white garlands, framed by carved stone pillars and painted ceiling beams. Devotees, several bare-chested in white dhotis and others in shirts, press forward toward the garlanded deity, some with hands raised. No individual in the scene is clearly identifiable as a person. The setting suggests darshan or puja at a South Indian temple.

Night procession at Kumbhapuri with a crowd pressing close around a palanquin carrying three decorated deity murtis draped in red and white garlands, with lit oil lamps and a lamp held forward on a tray. Shirtless priests with rudraksha malas and sacred thread, and a man in a white shirt with a blue lanyard, stand with hands folded in namaskar. A bald priest in a white dhoti holds a large brass vessel. At the right, a man in an orange turban holds a long silver ceremonial staff. Torches burn at the top edge of the frame. Vibhuti and tilaka marks are visible on several faces.

A dense night crowd gathers around an illuminated ratha or palanquin procession at a temple event. Glowing oil lamps and string lights frame a raised deity murti draped in red and orange garlands, seated on a decorated platform. In the foreground a young man in a white t-shirt faces away, with women in saris and men in white kurtas pressing around. Several men in white clothing at left hold hands in añjali gesture. Dust and warm light fill the scene. No individual can be clearly identified as the teacher, so the depicted figure is a deity murti.

Night photograph of a crowd gathered around an ornate golden palanquin-style shrine during a procession at Chennai. Two deity murtis, adorned with garlands of white and yellow flowers, stand within the gilded structure, which is lit by a bright lamp. In the foreground, a man in a white shirt faces away from the camera, while women in saris, one in mustard-gold with a white flower in her hair and another in lavender, press forward among devotees. Behind the shrine, a man in white with an orange shawl holds a bouquet of yellow flowers. A framed black-and-white portrait of a bearded figure in a white head covering is displayed on a pole beside the shrine, with an orange flag above it. Floral garlands drape the structure and crowd members, and a few other people stand at the back of the crowd.

Inside a temple hall with carved stone pillars, a deity murti is decorated with yellow and red marigold garlands and a multicoloured canopy above it. A bare-shouldered man in a white dhoti bends forward with folded hands before the image, wearing a beaded necklace. A man in a white shirt and dhoti stands at right with head bowed, and a figure in orange cloth is partly visible at the far right edge. Another figure with long dark hair in the left foreground faces the shrine. Two dhoti-clad men stand in the background. The scene suggests a puja or darshan, and no clear candidate for a person is visible.

A man in a white dhoti and shirt with white vibhuti on his forehead and a white moustache reaches toward the vehicle. In the foreground, a woman wears an orange-red shawl and a white headband, facing the vehicle. Another woman with a white jasmine flower in her hair stands in a dark patterned sari.
