A photograph of an evening aarti at night. A bearded man with hair tied in a topknot, bare-chested and wearing a yellow shawl over a white-and-green dhoti, holds a large brass multi-tiered lamp with tall flames and smoke, while beams of light cut through the dark. Beside him a younger man in a white dhoti and sacred thread stands watching. Bangles and bracelets are visible on the lamp-bearer's wrists, and small flames burn at the bottom edge.2016-12-15December 15 20162016-12-15A photograph taken in near darkness shows a man in profile holding up a multi-tiered brass aarti lamp with many lit oil lamps, flames rising above its tiers. Garlands of yellow-green and red flowers hang on a decorated pillar or deity stand at left, with blurred background ornaments.2016-12-07A man in saffron-orange robes performs aarti with a tiered brass lamp holding multiple lit oil lamps, its flames glowing against a dim wall. He is shaved-headed, wears wire-rimmed glasses, a beaded rudraksha-style mala necklace and a bangle on his wrist, and looks upward while holding the lamp stand with both hands. The scene is an evening ritual in a dark interior with a railing at right.2011-12-28A bearded man with hair tied in a top-knot holds up a brass aarti lamp with a lit flame, in a dim, smoky hall.
