July 04 20162016-07-04A photograph of a Vedic fire ritual at an outdoor homa pit lined with yellow-orange bricks and flower petals. A bare-chested priest in a white dhoti with a green and gold border, a gold-patterned turban and a rudraksha mala kneels at the fire and feeds offerings from a metal spoon into the flames. A brass bowl sits beside him. Behind them, seated devotees in white clothes with red shawls and saffron-orange forehead markings watch the ritual.2016-07-02A shaved-headed man in orange-saffron robes sits cross-legged on the ground before a stepped stack of red bricks decorated with yellow and white flowers. He holds a small silver cup and appears to be pouring or preparing an offering, with a silver tray of flowers, a small bowl and a brass vessel placed to his left. A rudraksha-style mala with ornate gold-toned beads hangs around his neck. Behind him, seated people in white garments and a shawl sit on white plastic chairs on a teal mat, watching the ritual. Colourful rangoli-style patterns decorate the ground. Possible puja or abhishekam setting; a person candidate is not clearly identifiable from appearance here, so the figure is described by role as a priest performing the ritual.2010-12-16September 09 20162016-09-09May 18 20122012-05-18July 08 20172017-07-08Devotees sit on a floor in a hall during a ritual. In the foreground, a man in a white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl and a long rudraksha mala holds a brass bell in his right hand and a brass oil lamp in his left, with white vibhuti marks on his forehead and arms. Behind him, a man in a saffron-orange shawl and rudraksha mala sits with a small brass lamp or incense vessel near his hands. Further left, a woman in orange sits beside him, and other lamp-holding devotees in white and orange appear in the background. A gold and red throne-like chair sits behind them, with warm lamplight on the scene. The ritual appears to be an aarti with oil lamps.2014-05-25January 08 20172017-01-08July 04 20172017-07-04Several men in white dhotis with gold-bordered sashes sit cross-legged on a colourful striped floor covering during a ritual gathering. The central man, bald on top, wears a white shawl and a long rudraksha mala, and is handling a small clear plastic-wrapped item, possibly a cloth-wrapped object, over a brown cloth. Another man on the left holds a white box, and a man on the right holds a small clear container.2017-02-26July 02 20162016-07-02A bare-chested priest with a closed-eyed, focused expression holds a silver aarti lamp with a lit flame in his right hand during a ritual. He wears a purple and magenta turban, a pink-and-gold shawl draped over one shoulder, and layered beaded rudraksha malas with gold-toned beads. Behind him, a man in white and gold dhoti, a man in an orange turban, and women in gold-bordered saris and malas stand watching the aarti. The background is blurred temple interior.2018-04-14
