September 09 20112011-09-09Photo of a food distribution (annadan) in a bare concrete hall with grey walls and a barred window. A man in an orange saffron dhoti wearing a pink and yellow flower garland serves rice and curry from a steel pan to a young man in a white Inter Milan football shirt. An older man in a white shirt scoops food from a large steel vessel, and a man in a pink t-shirt waits in the foreground. A monk in orange robes and a rudraksha mala stands at the left edge. The garlanded server has long swept-back hair and a rudraksha mala and wears an orange garment; he fits the appearance cues, but identity is uncertain, so the role is given as a server. Approximately five people are visible.2011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09September 09 20112011-09-09A photograph of an annadan food-serving scene in a bare concrete room with a wooden floor. A man in a white shirt and dhoti serves rice from a steel pot with a ladle onto a plate held by a young girl in a white top and teal shawl. Beside them, a person in an orange robe with a pink and yellow flower garland stands near the serving table, and a younger man in orange with long dark hair is also visible. Other white-clad people and a cameraman filming with a video camera stand in the background, and a pot of orange food sits on the counter. Several people are visible: the server, the girl, the garlanded orange-robed figure, the orange-clad man, the cameraman and a few in white.2011-09-09October 23 20122012-10-23September 09 20112011-09-09A covered open-sided pavilion where several men in white kurtas with orange shawls serve food from steel vessels. In the foreground a young man in a white kurta with embroidered trim and an orange shawl, with a red tilak on his forehead, reaches into a steel pot with a ladle, while others stand beside him serving rice and yellow food onto steel plates. On the left an older man in glasses wears a rudraksha mala. A bearded man in white with a shawl stands behind the serving line. Steel plates and pots fill the foreground, and the roof is thatched with bamboo-like matting. The scene looks like a communal meal service.2007-02-15A photograph of an annadan food-serving line in a bare concrete hall with a grey plastered wall and hanging decorative cloth tassels in red, blue and orange. A man in a yellow-and-white checked shirt stands at the left in the foreground, holding a steel tray with orange food. Along the steel serving counter, several men in white dhotis and bare upper bodies, some with white sacred-ash markings and rudraksha malas, serve rice and orange-coloured food into steel vessels. At the right, a man in saffron-orange clothing wears a pink and yellow flower garland and a long rudraksha mala, and reaches toward the serving pots. Several men in orange and white stand along the counter.2011-09-09A photo of an annadan style meal service in a hall with orange curtains and ceiling fans. Volunteers in white clothes and aprons, some wearing gloves, serve food from steel pots and trays onto plates held by a line of people. On the left a man in an orange robe with a rudraksha mala stands near the serving counter. A bald man with a long beard in white clothes stands among the line, with a woman in a pink dupatta and a woman in white at the right. No clear, unambiguous evidence of a person's presence is visible; the orange-robed figure is not identifiable as him from appearance alone.2009-07-23Annadhan in 20132013-01-01 +2 copies
