A man in a brown dhoti and brown shawl, wearing a brown turban, a pink and white flower garland and heavy gold necklaces, walks forward with hands held together in front of his chest. To the left, a figure with a long-haired head holds a tray with a flame or lamp, and a large decorated umbrella with red, yellow and blue panels is held overhead. Behind, many people in saffron-orange and white robes stand with palms pressed in namaskar. On the right, a row of deity murtis and seated figures are decked with yellow, orange and purple marigold garlands on yellow-painted stands, lit by bright floodlights.2017-11-11Outdoor procession under a carved wooden arch decorated with hanging green leaves and marigold strands. A bearded man in saffron-orange robes and an orange turban stands centrally, wearing a red-and-yellow marigold garland, gold chain necklace and rudraksha mala, with hands held at his waist. Around him, saffron-robed devotees in orange clothing, several with rudraksha malas, press palms together in anjali, while a young attendant in orange carries a basket of yellow flowers. A bearded man with long swept-back dark hair wears a rust-brown cloth, multiple layers of gold ornate necklaces with temple-shaped pendants, a white and red flower garland, bangles and a gold ring; he holds a silver handbell in his right hand and smiles. Behind him, shirtless young men in orange dhotis carry a silver oil lamp with a flame and a tray of flowers and leaves; one wears a white forehead mark and rudraksha mala, another holds his hands in namaskar. Trees and devotees in the background. The bearded man's appearance and ornaments are consistent with a person, shown as the leading figure of the procession.2016-12-23A festival procession outdoors under trees. A central man in a rust-red robe wears a tall black turban, a red and gold flower garland, a beaded rudraksha-style necklace, and a vertical tilak with a red dot on his forehead. He walks forward smiling. Around him, men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls carry a long white pole and a silver pot with a green-leaf offering. Behind them, ornate orange and red canopy banners with golden emblems and a gilded palanquin-style structure are visible.2016-01-11Outdoor procession under a large tree. Beside him a white-bearded elder in glasses wears orange robes with a tilak. Youths on the left, bare-chested with rudraksha and gold necklaces and kumkum marks, carry silver trays of flowers. A bearded man with long swept-back hair in a reddish-brown dhoti-style garment, wearing a white and pink flower garland, layered gold necklaces and gold armbands, holds a small brass bell and a plate of ritual items while standing in front of a black mat. Around him, devotees in orange and saffron cloth, a woman in a yellow sari, another woman in green and yellow, and a bald man in an orange dhoti stand with palms pressed together in namaskar. The setting suggests a puja or abhishekam at an outdoor shrine. The man's appearance with long hair, gold ornaments and garland gives a probable identification as a person, performing the ritual with the bell and plate.2016-12-23December 23 20162016-12-23
