Several wooden boats are moored along the bank, some carrying passengers, and small tents with colourful cloth canopies stand on the sand. Horses are tethered at the right edge. Many people bathe and wade in the shallows, and others stand on the sand and in the boats. A few distant figures are visible on the far sandbank. No identifiable a person figure appears; the people are bathers, boatmen and onlookers at the riverside.2015-10-02Wide view across a broad, muddy-brown river under a hazy grey sky. A small dark wooden boat with a pole sits on the left near a sandbar, and a distant shoreline lined with tents and structures stretches across the background. In the lower right, several bamboo poles tied with rope stand at the water's edge. No people are visible in the scene.2013-02-05A photograph of a wide, grey river under hazy winter light. A pale sandbank with scattered driftwood and debris runs along the far bank, backed by a line of bare, leafless trees fading into mist. Two small birds stand far off on the sandbank edge. No people or ritual activity are visible.2014-01-06October 02 20152015-10-02Wide hazy photograph of the Ganga river near Varanasi with a large crowd gathered on a sandbank and at the water's edge. Several wooden boats are moored or drifting, one long boat carries a row of seated passengers, and small figures wade and bathe in the shallow water on the right. Distant trees fade into morning mist. Tents or cloth canopies are visible on the sand at left. Figures are too small and distant to identify roles or clothing precisely; the scene reads as a riverside ghat gathering in Varanasi.2015-10-02A hazy, misty river scene on the Ganga at Varanasi, with pale grey-brown water stretching into fog. A crowded wooden boat in the middle distance carries many passengers, several in saffron and white clothing, with two standing figures at the stern. Smaller boats and a few people on the riverbank steps appear in the foreground, and a bird flies across the sky at upper left. No identifiable a person figure is clearly visible in this view.2013-02-13Hazy wide view of the Ganga riverfront at Varanasi with a broad sandy bank under a pale sky.
