Nearby, a young man in orange cloth and mala holds a small green dish, another man in orange holds a bowl, and a kalasha-like brass vessel with a green leafy sprig and decorative ornaments is in the foreground. Two women on the left wear orange salwar-style outfits with gold-embroidered borders; the two on the right wear orange-red garments with rudraksha beaded malas, bangles and a gold waistband. Behind them a red structure, orange cloth and green leaves are visible, and a bamboo stalk stands at the left edge. The setting suggests a Pongal harvest celebration with pots prepared for ritual use.2016-01-15A large group of devotees, mostly women and girls in saffron-orange saris and tunics with gold borders, sits cross-legged on a floor in an open hall before a red wall. Many wear rudraksha malas and white or ash forehead markings. Several hold small brass vessels and brass pots, and a girl in the foreground wearing a long rudraksha mala and white tilaka tends brass pots. Some participants wear white and yellow clothing. Brass kalasha-style pots and a few bowls are arranged on the floor in front.2016-08-18Outdoor temple-visit scene with devotees in a line near a red-and-gold temple pillar hung with yellow marigold garlands. At the centre-right, a shaved-headed man with white and ash tilak and white body markings stands with palms pressed together in namaste, wearing a rudraksha mala, a rust-red shawl and a yellow-and-rust dhoti. Beside him, a young person in an orange garment and rudraksha beads carries a silver plate of yellow flowers. Further left, a woman in an orange sari holds a tray of white and red flowers, and an older woman in white with a red-and-brown shawl stands with hands folded. Others in white and red-orange clothing stand behind, with green trees behind them.2014-08-31Outdoor ritual scene beside a green-and-white bamboo fence. A woman in a white blouse and white dhoti with purple-and-gold border bends forward, offering a golden kalasha-like vessel with a red tilak-marked top set on a brass plate. A man in an orange robe and beaded necklace stands behind her. On the right, a smiling figure with long dark hair, white forehead markings, a heavy gold necklace and rudraksha-style beads wears a bright orange robe and sandals, with his bare arm visible; the appearance is consistent with a probable Swamiji (probable) in a sannyasi role, receiving the offering. A man in white kurta with a pendant stands behind, and other white-clad devotees are in the background.2008-12-23Outdoor Pongal ritual near a whitewashed wall.
