In the foreground, a man seen from behind wears an orange-red turban and a saffron-orange garment with gold-bordered shawl, his right arm raised toward the crowd. His long dark hair falls past his shoulders, and his clothing and swept-back hair are consistent with the page's a person claim, though the figure is viewed from behind, so the identification is uncertain. Around him a dense crowd of men in white shirts and white dhotis presses forward. Marigold garlands and bamboo leaves with white paper flags hang overhead.
