A labourer in a pink head cloth, a striped white shirt and green shorts bends forward on bare reddish-brown earth, raking or levelling the soil with a tool in his right hand. Behind him rises a grey stone boundary wall with red and white painted bands along the top, and bricks are stacked at the upper right. A trench and scattered stones lie to the left.

A construction site scene at AadiKailaasa in Bengaluru. Four men work on bare red-brown earth in front of a grey breeze-block wall. A man in a white shirt, dark trousers and a purple cap bends forward swinging a pickaxe-style hoe. Beside him a man in a blue checked shirt and pink head wrap digs with a hoe, while two older men in lungis and white shirts stand watching, one holding a shovel-like tool. Bricks and loose soil lie on the ground. The scene shows manual labour during site preparation.

A photograph of temple construction labour on a sandy site. Three men work barefoot with long-handled hoes or shovels, mixing wet grey concrete mixed with gravel on the ground. The man in the foreground wears a white shirt and a green-and-yellow checked lungi, bending forward over the mix. Behind him another worker in a white shirt and checked lungi stoops with a hoe. At left, a man in a teal top and plaid lungi holds a red bucket, while an orange bucket sits on the sand. Piles of sand and a loose cloth lie in the background.

Outdoor ashram construction work on a dusty ground. In the foreground, several workers dig into reddish soil with long iron rods beside a raised paved edge. One man in a pink shirt and blue head cloth sits on the edge, a shirtless worker in white crouches, and another in white dhoti and cloth crouches in the hole. A woman in a green floral sari and a head scarf walks past a pile of sand and rubble. In the background, a shaded area with a colourful canopy, red-and-white striped plinths and a deity shrine with a small lamp stand, and trees with orange and red hanging decorations. Several other workers sit or squat in the distance.

April 2008 - Making Of Kailaasa In Tiruvannamalai

Two workers lay paving on a dusty construction site in front of a stone-block building with bamboo stalks. A man in a cream striped shirt, rolled-up jeans and bare feet works with a trowel spreading sand or cement across the concrete slabs. Behind him a woman in a striped blue top and a floral blue-and-pink sari with a patterned headscarf pours from a green bucket. Loose stone slabs and rubble lie around the ground. The scene is a site work photograph, not a ritual or satsang.

April 2008 - Making Of Kailaasa In Tiruvannamalai

A photograph of an outdoor plot of land with reddish-brown freshly turned soil in the middle ground and a low green ground cover in the foreground scattered with stones. A single man in a white-and-cream striped shirt, dark trousers and a pink head wrap bends forward and works the soil with a long-handled hoe. Behind him stands a grey concrete block wall, with tall coconut palms and a white building with a tiled roof on the left. The scene is an ordinary daytime ashram grounds work scene.

Construction site with a trench being dug and lined with grey concrete blocks along the foundation. Several workers are visible: a man in a white shirt and cap walking on the left, a woman in a blue saree and red blouse crouching at the trench, a woman in a red saree standing on the right edge, and a woman in a patterned saree kneeling beside piles of rough grey stones. Stacks of concrete blocks sit on the far right and left, with red earth, a sand heap and trees in the background. No a person candidate is present; the setting is a building foundation work site in Tiruvannamalai.

Photo of stone paving work in progress on a dirt-and-stone path at an ashram site. A standing worker in a checked shirt, dark trousers and a red-and-white head wrap holds a cut stone block, while a second worker in a maroon shirt and light trousers crouches to set cobblestones into a sand bed. Large pale rectangular paving slabs and loose stone blocks line the walkway. Behind them are red-painted buildings with green roofs, a red stone staircase at right, a pile of sand, a parked silver van and a distant figure in white.
