November 06 20112011-11-06December 28 20112011-12-28A crowded seated gathering of devotees holding small oil lamps, with several lit flames visible in the hands of people in the foreground and middle. Many participants are boys and young men wearing white dhotis and shawls, some with sacred threads and rudraksha-style malas; one bald man in the foreground wears a vertical tilak and white dhoti with a red border, and another bald man in glasses wears a red kumkum mark and white cloth. Ritual fires or oil lamps and a mat-covered floor suggest a devotional ceremony, with attendees seated closely together and absorbed in the rite. No distinctive ceremonial cues identify a person candidate with confidence, so the identity remains uncertain.2011-07-23A photograph of a seated group of boys and young men performing a puja in a hall with red curtains. Many are sitting on mats before brass plates holding offerings, small oil lamps, and bowls, and several hold small brass bells or lamps. Some wear white dhoti-style clothing with shaved heads and vibhuti marks, while others wear casual shirts, an orange t-shirt, and a striped shirt. One young man in white at the right holds a brass bell and a lamp beside a rudraksha mala.2011-11-04September 23 20112011-09-23December 28 20112011-12-28May 27 20132013-05-27A seated crowd of devotees holds small oil lamps aloft in a hall during a lamp offering. In the foreground a man in a white dhoti with a gold border and a red-tilak forehead holds a flame toward the camera with eyes closed. Behind him, boys and young men in black, maroon and white shirts, some with white or red forehead bands and vibhuti, hold lamps and brass vessels. Older men in white kurtas and orange shawls sit among them, several with hands raised in prayer. The scene suggests a puja or aarti with flames as the focal point.2013-03-06September 07 20112011-09-07November 06 20112011-11-06
