They hold food with their right hands, and small white paper cups, rice, a red chutney-like dish and sweets are arranged on the leaves in front of them. They are eating from green leaf plates piled with yellow rice, fried snacks, sliced fruit and small steel cups, their hands reaching to the food. Long dark hair is visible on the right foreground person. Behind them, other people in white and orange clothing move in the background of a hall with colourful striped cloth. Orange fabric appears in the blurred background at top.2014-10-28 +1 copiesWomen seated cross-legged on the floor in a hall eating a communal meal from banana leaves. They wear white clothes with orange-red shawls and red-brown rudraksha malas, and several have bangles and earrings. Some participants wear white head coverings, and a blue mat runs along the floor.2014-10-28 +1 copiesSeptember 30 20162016-09-30A seated group of women sits in a row on orange mats in a large hall with a polished cream floor. Most wear white saris with yellow shawls and gold-bordered edges, and their palms are pressed together in prayer or hands rest in front of them. A fair-haired woman in the centre wears a cream sari with a yellow shawl. Banana leaves in front of them hold small portions of food and paper cups of water. In the background a shaved-headed man in white stands near a table, a large painted backdrop of deities hangs at the upper right, and a white altar-like table sits to the right. Several people are visible with their faces partly hidden, so the count is approximate.2010-10-12A photograph of a person in an orange saffron-coloured outfit with pink trim, seated cross-legged on a woven mat and bowed forward while eating from a banana leaf. Dark hair falls over the face, and one hand reaches toward the leaf. The leaf holds a meal of rice, yellow dal, orange chutney-style dishes, a fried vada, a white rice mound, pickle and papadam pieces. Paper cups sit at the edge, and a string of rudraksha-like beads lies on the mat. A second person in orange is partly visible at the left edge. The setting is a tiled floor, consistent with an ashram meal.2013-10-04 +1 copiesSeptember 21 20162016-09-21
