September 09 20112011-09-09A painted mural panel in a palace interior showing a blue-skinned child deity with a green-tipped crown reaching up to a hanging pot-bundle, while two smaller naked boys reach upward and a third boy bends forward on his hands in the foreground. Terracotta and brass pots sit on the floor and on a wall shelf, with a gold-framed mirror on the left and a dark wooden beamed ceiling above. The painted scene, not real people, makes up the composition.2006-11-10September 09 20112011-09-09September 22 20092009-09-22 +1 copiesA photograph of a Navaratri-season display of painted clay figurines arranged on a bed of soil. Many small figures in saffron, orange, yellow, red and green clothing stand in a crowd, some with tilak markings and red turbans, some holding instruments or gesturing. A white horse figurine with red and green saddle cloth stands at right, a figure on horseback at left, and a small raised red platform with a figure and a painted deity murti appears in the background beside a table of fruit and vegetables. Greenery frames the lower edge.2009-09-22 +1 copiesA photograph of a golu display of painted clay figurines arranged on a white cloth with a striped border. Dozens of small figures in bright clothing stand in rows, including a musician in pink holding a flute, figures with drums and cymbals, and a seated figure on a white horse-like mount in the centre. Two large painted Ganesha figures with pink and green colours flank the display, and strings of warm lights run behind it. The figurines are statues, not living people.2008-10-01October 01 20082008-10-01A photograph of a painted clay doll-style tableau on a plain grey cloth. Two tall green pillar-like stands topped with white-and-orange parrot heads holding green leaves flank a small blue-skinned deity murti seated on a red-and-yellow swing suspended by silver chains. The seated figure wears gold necklaces, a dark topknot with a peacock-feather ornament and a red tilak. Partially visible at the left edge is another blue figure. No physical people are visible.2008-10-08A photo of a table covered with a white cloth displaying a row of brightly painted small deity figurines and murtis. Left to right: a figure with a golden crown and gold jewellery, a blue-skinned figure in yellow dhoti, a figure in red with a gold crown, a central figure in yellow seated on a red throne with the word PADUKA on its base, and a seated figure with a blue-green and gold garment beside a Shiva lingam with a cobra hood. Two tall green painted parrot-headed figures with chains stand in the centre back. At right, a golden seated figure holds a veena, and a pink Ganesha figure appears at the edge. These are statues, not people, so no physical people are present.2007-10-17A festive display of painted clay dolls, as in a Navaratri golu arrangement, on tiered steps draped in teal and orange silk. In the foreground a row of small figures plays instruments: a pink-clad musician with a nadaswaram-type pipe, a drummer with a drum, and a bare-chested boy with a small pipe. A golden palanquin or ratha with tassels of pink, green and purple stands at left, beside white horse figures. Other dolls include a seated woman in blue, a standing figure in a red sari, and a gold deity figurine at right. Statues only; no living people are visible.2011-10-02Photo of a dimly lit display of painted deity figurines and statues arranged on tiered white-draped steps. A tall blue-skinned figure in yellow dhoti and red sash with gold jewellery stands at the top, with a group of smaller painted deity idols, dark bronze-toned figures, and two dark elephant figures below. Yellow marigold petals are scattered among the figures. Fruit and brass vessels sit at the lower right. A woman in a pink sari sits on a blue plastic chair at the right edge, partly visible. A maroon cloth backdrop with gold border hangs behind.2011-10-02October 11 20132013-10-11
