The figure wears a purple silk garment with gold border and gold-embroidered cloth, a dark maroon head covering, and a gold armlet on the raised arm. Dense garlands of red, yellow, white and green flowers hang across the body and around a large gold pot-shaped base. Strings of rudraksha-like beads and a silver chain lie at the base. A brass oil lamp with a lit flame stands at the right, with a gold ritual lamp and a pink flower offering beyond. Flower garlands in multicolour strands frame the background.2016-12-17A photograph of a bare-backed priest seen from behind, wearing a red and white rudraksha-style red bead mala and a saffron-coloured cloth, pouring liquid from a small vessel over a shivalinga. The shivalinga is draped in red and gold silk cloth and encircled with yellow marigold and red rose garlands, with a silver-toned decorated lingam top. Behind it stands a painted deity figure with folded hands, garlanded with white and red flowers, next to a brass kalasha and brass lamps. The setting is a shrine with ornate silver-toned metalwork, red and teal painted panels, and a canopy overhead. This appears to be an abhishekam or puja to a shivalinga.2015-07-16
