Two ornate umbrellas with red, green and gold fabric, fringed tassels and painted floral motifs are held aloft by men in white. At centre, a man with long dark hair wearing an orange saffron robe and a large pink-and-red flower garland stands with palms pressed together in namaste. Two large ornate umbrellas with red, gold and blue embroidered panels, green floral motifs and gold fringe are held over the procession by men in white shirts and white dhotis, one holding a long pole. Around them, devotees in white clothes and orange shawls, some with rudraksha malas and one with a sandalwood-and-kumkum forehead mark, walk closely together. Palm fronds and a strung garland of leaves hang overhead, with a thatched shelter behind. The page title and date place the event in Salem, but no identity is established from appearance. The orange-robed garlanded man has long hair and no crown or ceremonial gold, so the appearance cues are insufficient.2006-11-13January 03 20162016-01-03A festival procession in the street, with a decorated palanquin carrying a deity murti hung with colourful garlands and a multicoloured canopy frame. In the foreground a man in a saffron-orange cloth and orange head wrap, wearing a long gold necklace, walks at the centre of the crowd; his long swept-back hair and ornaments fit the page's presentation, but his face is not clearly distinguishable, so the identity is uncertain. Around him, men and women in white shirts and white dhotis carry white flags and umbrella poles, and a brass kalasha lamp sits on the left palanquin. Other figures in orange and saffron clothing walk behind. Red and purple fringed canopies and banners with bright patterns frame the scene.2005-12-31Outdoor procession at a festival, with a tall figure in saffron-orange robes standing on an elevated platform, reaching toward a decorated deity murti of a seated figure garlanded with marigolds and yellow flowers, flanked by a second garlanded murti in blue. Behind, a framed portrait of a man in orange robes with a garland and beaded necklace is set within a canopy of multicoloured bunting and stripes. A large red, yellow and green parasol with tassels is held over the scene by a bald man with a tilak in orange clothing. Around them, several young men and women in orange and maroon robes stand with palms pressed together in prayer, some with long curly hair. Palm trees and a bright blue sky are visible behind.2008-12-23December 22 20102010-12-22December 23 20082008-12-23Night procession at a temple-style event with devotees in white dhotis with gold borders and orange or maroon robes.
