September 12 20122012-09-12May 08 20122012-05-08Outdoor photo on a paved courtyard in bright sunlight, with trees and a temple gopuram behind. A tall man with long dark hair tied back wears an orange-saffron shawl with gold border over orange dhoti and a heavy gold bead necklace; he holds a small object and walks forward. Beside him a shaved-headed sannyasi in orange robes with gold borders, rudraksha mala and tilak holds a green packet and a small item. Behind them a man in white and a uniformed official are visible. Two shaved-headed men at left wear yellow and grey clothes, one with hands in anjali. Several other people stand in the background, including a man in white. The tall figure's cues are long hair, saffron clothing and gold necklace, so the label is probable and tied to his visible presence in the scene.2012-09-11 +1 copiesJune 05 20122012-06-05May 16 20122012-05-16 +1 copiesOutdoor photo of a procession on a dusty street with a yellow-and-red building behind. In the centre, a smiling man with long swept-back hair and a headband wears saffron-orange robes with gold borders, layered rudraksha and bead malas, and a large gold pendant; he gestures with his right hand. Beside him, an older man with shaved head, vibhuti marks and a rudraksha mala in orange robes walks smiling. On the right, a man in orange with bead necklaces holds a pale cloth. A man in white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl walks in the background, and a bare-chested man at left raises a wooden pole. Several more people fill the crowd.2012-05-18January 03 20162016-01-03 +1 copiesA photograph of a group walking along a shaded paved path beneath a large tree. In the centre, a man in orange and gold ceremonial dress, with a gold necklace, a rudraksha-style bead mala, a wide gold-bordered orange cloth draped over his shoulder and a sacred vibhuti mark on his forehead, walks forward. Around him, men in saffron and orange robes wear beaded malas, and one carries an orange cloth held aloft. A man in white clothes with an orange shawl carries an orange bag, and a woman in white churidar clothing with a pink dupatta walks at right. Strings of garlands and a white cloth bundle are visible at the right edge. Several people appear in the background under the tree and a shelter, and a water bottle sits on the ground at lower right.2012-09-12A smiling man in saffron-orange robes with a red-and-gold shawl and a long white and red flower garland stands at the centre, raising one hand in greeting. He wears a yellow tilak on his forehead, a red dot at its centre, gold earrings and several rudraksha malas. Behind him, a bald man in orange robes with a rudraksha mala stands with one arm raised. On the right, a man in white dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala bends forward, and in the lower left a bare-shouldered man in orange kneels and bows. A man in white on the far left and a man in orange holding a yellow cloth and a brass vessel stand in the background against a red-ochre temple wall.2012-08-20 +2 copiesFebruary 13 20132013-02-13A group of saffron-robed sannyasis walks barefoot along a paved street in front of a temple gateway. The central man wears an orange dhoti and shawl with gold borders and a long ornate gold bead necklace, with a red bindi on his forehead. Around him, men in white dhotis with gold-bordered shawls and white-and-orange-clad monastics carry a small brass vessel and an orange cloth bag. Sandalwood tilaka marks cover several foreheads, and rudraksha malas hang on many chests. Behind them, a metal gate and shopfronts line the street. Appearance cues alone are not sufficient to identify the central figure, so his role is described as a saffron-clad sannyasi leading the procession.2011-09-26Outdoor procession on a stone-paved path near a gopuram temple tower. A man with long dark swept-back hair, wearing a saffron-orange garment with gold trim, a rudraksha-style gold necklace, a white-and-yellow garland and a forehead tilak, raises his hand in greeting and smiles. Around him walk shaved-headed men in orange and white dhotis with gold necklaces and white forehead markings, some with bare shoulders, and a photographer raises a camera in the background.2010-12-29
