Photograph taken from an elevated position looking down on a large outdoor crowd gathered in a dusty open area lined with palm trees. Most people wear white dhotis and shirts, with some in colourful clothing. In the foreground at left, a bald figure in a rust-red saffron robe with an orange-red head wrap and a red-beaded bracelet holds a long wooden pole decorated with fresh banana leaves and green foliage, apparently part of a ceremonial structure. A second person in a red-brown robe with an orange-red turban stands beside them. A corrugated tin roof and white-painted wooden railings occupy the right side of the frame.2014-06-29June 29 20142014-06-29 +1 copiesA crowd of men in white shirts and dhotis surrounds a bald, bare-chested man with an orange-saffron cloth draped over his shoulders and a rudraksha-style orange mala around his neck, being pressed forward on a road lined with palm and banana trees. Many people raise their hands and reach toward him, and two large colourful umbrellas with orange, red and floral embroidery shelter the scene, with a dark vehicle behind. The man's face is turned away, and his appearance and role are not clearly established, so he is described as a central figure in the crowd rather than identified.2014-06-19Outdoor photo of a dense crowd pressing around a saffron-robed monastic figure in a red turban and a large white-and-red flower garland, near a white van and a yellow-roofed vehicle under trees. Several saffron-clad sannyasis with rudraksha malas surround him, some with shaved heads. Men in white shirts and dhotis, many holding up phones and hands, press in around the procession, with a smoky haze in the air.2014-07-01December 12 20172017-12-12June 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesOutdoor crowd scene in a village setting with banana trees and a yellow cloth backdrop painted with peacocks. A young man in a pink t-shirt stands nearby, and another young man in a white cloth carries a brass tray of offerings on his head. Orange-robed sannyasis and older devotees in white stand in the crowd. In the foreground, a bare-chested young priest with white vibhuti marks and a rudraksha mala sits beside a wooden platform strewn with petals and flower garlands. A shaven-headed sannyasi in orange robes with a red border and gold necklaces stands in the middle, with a woman in an orange sari wearing a green leaf garland beside him. Several men and women in white shirts, pink and maroon clothes surround them, and one man holds a compact camera with a flip-out screen. Behind the crowd, a small shrine and trees appear, with a few orange-clad figures further back.2011-01-16January 01 20112011-01-01
