The ornate gilded canopy has a tiered dome and carved figures, decorated with colourful striped tassels in red, white, blue and yellow. Many devotees, mostly women in saffron, yellow, green and pink saris and men in white dhotis, press close and look on. Grey stone pillars with carved reliefs frame the scene and green metal gates stand behind. No single figure is clearly identifiable as a person from the visible cues; the palanquin deity is a murti, not a person.2009-07-13Night photograph of an ornate golden ratha or palanquin-style procession vehicle with a deity murti seated in its centre, decorated with dense garlands of white, yellow and red flowers, and hanging tassels in pink, green, blue, yellow and purple. A gold canopy with scalloped fringe covers the top, and gold ornamental figures and a bell-cluster ornament flank the sides. A red cloth drapes behind the murti. Partly visible at the edges are a few onlookers and a loudspeaker on the right, with a gold staff or ornament at the far right. The darkness and stage lighting leave the background mostly black.2013-04-23 +2 copiesA photograph of an ornate gold palanquin or ratha-style chariot canopy at night under a corrugated roof. Inside, a deity murti or utsava image is decorated with red, orange and white flower garlands and draped in green and red cloth. Gold-colored carved railings and tassels in pink, teal, orange and black hang from the frame. A bare-skinned person's back is partly visible behind the carrying structure, but no face is visible.2013-04-24A photograph of an ornate golden shrine canopy over a central statue in a rust-orange and saffron robe, with a red-and-gold sash, holding its right hand raised in blessing. The figure stands on a golden vahana with an elephant-head motif and is framed by garlands of red, orange and white flowers. Golden lion-pillared columns, a silver arch and a draped white-and-lavender tent ceiling surround it, with brass oil lamps at the base. No living people are visible; the central figure is a statue, so this is a depiction and the identity cannot be confirmed from appearance.2016-12-19Night photograph of an illuminated golden ratha (temple chariot) during a procession. A tall tiered golden shrine is lit with warm lights and decorated with winged cherub figures, with multicoloured tassel garlands hanging on its sides. Inside the shrine sits a deity murti adorned with flower garlands and red and gold ornaments. A white-clad attendant stands at the lower right of the chariot, and gold-coloured figures decorate its base, with a dark night sky behind.2014-10-03A night photograph of an illuminated, golden processional ratha or chariot with a tiered, domed superstructure decorated with winged celestial figures and strings of lights. Inside the central shrine stands a deity murti in orange drapery against a red-and-white striped backdrop, framed by multicoloured tassel garlands in red, blue, white and green. At the front base, a seated deity figure with raised hands and garlands sits between golden horse or lion figures and attendant statues.2015-11-22December 26 20082008-12-26 +14 copiesNight photograph of an illuminated golden temple chariot (ratha) decorated with multicoloured tassel garlands in red, orange, green, blue and white, with a tiered domed canopy topped by a finial and winged cherub figures.
