January 31 20072007-01-31Night photograph of a large old banyan tree with thick aerial roots and a massive trunk, marked with red and orange tilak-like daubs and a white-painted patch. Three people stand before it: on the left an older woman in a peach sari with a green border and a red bindi, a young girl in a green striped top and green pants in the centre, and on the right a man in an all-white garment with a white head cloth, reaching toward the tree trunk. The scene is dimly lit with a dark background.2007-01-31Outdoor photograph beneath a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and a thick trunk. Three people stand on a raised stone ledge at the base. The figure on the left wears a plain orange robe and bare feet and points upward into the branches. A middle figure in white with an orange shawl points as well, and a third person in white and orange stands beside them. Their gestures suggest pointing out something in the canopy. No clear identification can be made from appearance, so the figures are described by role and clothing only.2006-10-07Outdoor photo of devotees gathered around the base of a massive banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and thick trunks on bare reddish-brown earth. Several women in white saris with gold borders stand or bend close to the trunk, including one in a white sari with an orange-and-blue patterned border who is kneeling and touching the roots. Men in white shirts and white dhotis stand nearby, and children in casual clothes watch. A few people in the background sit under the trees. No readable signage is visible. a person is not clearly identifiable among the people shown.2007-05-04A photograph of a massive old banyan tree with many thick aerial roots hanging from its wide spreading branches, standing on sandy ground. A man in a long orange robe with an orange shawl stands smiling at the trunk on the right, with long dark hair and a slight build, and appears to be an in_person candidate only by an orange robe and long hair, which is not distinctive enough to confirm identity; he is described as a sannyasi. Two other men in white dhotis with orange shawls stand at the left edge, partly cropped. A purple and white logo appears in the upper left corner.2006-10-07February 14 20072007-02-14A photograph of a large, sprawling banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots and thick spreading branches over bare sandy ground. In the foreground a young person with long dark hair and a red bindi stands in an orange saffron robe with a white crutch under one arm. To the right edge, an older man in white clothes with an orange shawl stands partly cut off. The person in the orange robe has long swept hair, a bindi and saffron clothing, but the appearance is not distinctive enough to confirm an identity, so the candidate is marked unsure.2006-10-07A photograph of a large, ancient banyan tree with dense aerial roots and hanging vines, a garland of orange and white flowers draped along the trunk at left. A figure with long dark hair, wearing an orange and gold garment and a beaded necklace, stands in the center facing a companion dressed in white. Beside them are men in white dhotis and shirts and a woman in a green and white sari. In the foreground on the right, an elderly man in a saffron-orange robe and a matching orange turban stands with his arm outstretched, touching the bark of the tree. A second, partly visible man in white clothing stands behind him near the trunks. A string of white and red flower garland hangs at the left edge. The ground is bare earth and sunlight filters through the leaves.2006-11-21Night photograph at an outdoor ashram site. A figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe with long dark hair and a rudraksha mala stands on a white-edged platform, leaning forward with forehead pressed against the massive buttressed trunk of a banyan tree, hands pressed together in reverence. White kolam line designs and scattered petals are on the ground, with a faint yellow flower garland at the lower left. Behind, a man in white with a yellow shawl and a woman in a green sari stand at the edge of the frame beside a rope fence and poles. The figure's long hair, saffron robe and mala match the page's a person reference, but the appearance cues are not conclusive, so the identification is marked uncertain.2008-12-30
