February 16 20092009-02-16February 23 20172017-02-232005 - Visit to Devotee House in Rasipuram PattanamA photograph of a temple garbha consecration in a stone-walled interior. A figure in an orange robe with long dark hair sits cross-legged on a square stone slab set into the floor, bending over it with hands working at the stone. Around the opening, several people in white dhotis and kurtas with orange shawls stand or kneel with heads bowed; one man in the centre holds a long dark staff and a rudraksha mala. In the top corner a small brass lamp holds a flame. The seated figure's identity cannot be determined from appearance, so no candidate is named and a person is unsure.2006-12-11A close photograph of a padapuja-style foot ritual on a dark stone floor. A metal vessel. At right, a person in an orange-saffron garment stands, and at left a person in white dhoti clothing with a gold-bordered cloth and a beaded rudraksha-style mala is partly visible. Only the lower bodies and hands of the participants are shown, with no faces visible. The foreground is blurred by a hand. Several people are partially visible, so the count is a small group.2012-06-05December 31 20082008-12-31A dim, unfinished stone-walled chamber during a garbha consecration. A central figure in an orange robe with long, swept-back dark hair sits cross-legged on a low wooden stool, leaning forward toward a square stone base holding a brass yantra-style object covered in white cloth. Around him, young men in white kurtas with orange shawls kneel and bend close, one with hands raised over another's head. An older man in white dhoti with a maroon border stands at the right edge, hands folded.2006-12-11A photograph taken inside a dim, plain-walled sanctum-like chamber. A long-haired person in a saffron-orange robe kneels on the bare floor, leaning over a square stone slab set into the floor. On the slab sits a brass or gold plated yantra-like device with a central spiral design, draped with a white cloth. Two people in white garments with orange shawls lean forward beside the kneeling figure, one with a beaded mala and gold chain, and another partially visible person in white dhoti at the right edge. The scene suggests a consecration ritual at a garbha or foundation point.2006-12-11A blurred, close overhead photograph of an outdoor ritual setting with a stone or concrete floor. A long-haired man in an orange saffron robe stands at right, holding an orange cloth, with his face turned toward a kneeling figure. A younger attendant in white clothing with an orange shawl kneels at centre, leaning over a small square ornate tile or slab with a blue and gold patterned border. Other people in white clothes with orange shawls stand at left and right edges, partly cropped. A dark wet patch lies on the ground in the foreground.2006-12-11Overhead photograph inside a stone-walled space at a temple construction site, showing a bare-footed figure in long flowing saffron/orange robes with long dark swept hair and a red tilak on the forehead, crouched and reaching toward a flat square of wet grey mortar or cement set into the floor. Around them several men in white dhotis and white kurtas, some with orange shawls draped over their shoulders, stand or kneel, one holding a small object in his hand and another pressing into the floor. A gray stone wall and granite blocks form the background.2006-12-11January 02 20122012-01-02February 16 20092009-02-16
