Night ritual at an outdoor homa or yagna platform: a square white fire pit with a dark central opening is surrounded by offerings, brass lamps, a silver kalasha-style pot, incense sticks and scattered flower petals. Several young people in saffron-orange robes with red-bordered cloth sit cross-legged around it, many wearing rudraksha malas and gold necklaces. At the back, one person in orange sits on a raised orange seat, though no clear identifying cues establish who this is. A garlanded deity murti stands at the left edge beside a pink and white flower garland. A bearded-free, shaven-headed figure in orange sits in the foreground with his back to the camera, facing the altar. Bowls of offerings and marigold-like flowers fill the lower corners.2008-10-07October 07 20082008-10-07Night-time photograph of a group of devotees in saffron and orange clothing seated with hands folded in namaskar around a large dark stone yagna or homa pit.
