October 07 20112011-10-07Night outdoor photo at a roadside gathering beside a dark car with its door open. In the centre, a long-haired figure with his back to the camera wears an orange robe edged with gold and a white flower garland, standing by the open car door. Around him, men in white dhotis and shawls, several shaved-headed, stand with palms pressed together in namaste, and a man in white kneels in the foreground. A man in white with a rudraksha-style mala holds a green banana leaf or plantain offering. Warm string lights and lamps glow in the background among onlookers. The orange-robed figure cannot be confirmed as a person from appearance alone, so no identification is made.2011-05-16August 02 20082008-08-02August 02 20082008-08-02April 05 20122012-04-05January 08 20122012-01-08A photograph of a procession walking along a stone-paved temple corridor at night, past a carved stone pillar on the left. Several men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls lead the group; the central figure wears an orange garment with a rudraksha-style beaded necklace and an ornate crown-like headband, and two others in orange have garlands and white headbands. In the foreground, a barefoot man in a long orange saffron wrap, dark tousled hair and a reddish undershirt walks across dirt ground toward the viewer. Behind him, a group of people in white dhotis and white kurtas stand and walk on steps, some with hands folded in namaskar. A silver SUV is parked at left and a person in white stands by it. Two large orange-turbaned portraits hang on the outer walls, and a small circular portrait is mounted above the hall entrance.2007-02-25Night photograph of a crowd walking through a dimly lit temple courtyard in front of a tall stone temple gopuram with a lit shrine niche at top. Men in white dhotis and shirts with saffron-orange shawls predominate. In the left foreground a man in a long orange robe with a saffron-orange garment and a beaded orange-and-red mala around his neck walks with hands folded. Near the centre a man in white holds his hands together in namaste while another man in a cream kurta holds a bouquet of red and yellow flowers. Many people in white and orange follow, some barefoot, in what appears to be a temple procession.2008-08-02November 04 20062006-11-04
