Drummers in white dhotis and orange lungis beat drums, and a man in white plays a long brass horn. Men in white dhotis and shirts walk alongside, and a woman in a yellow sari stands at the roadside. Several decorated ratha-style carts with red and yellow canopies, garlands and palm-frond ornaments are pulled along, and rows of white-faced masks and figures with tall golden headdresses follow. At the upper right, a framed portrait of a woman in orange robes, garlanded with yellow flowers, is carried on a decorated cart.2010-02-18August 01 20082008-08-01December 23 20092009-12-23A photograph of a procession on a dirt road through dry grassland under an overcast sky. Many men in white dhotis and shirts walk in a long line. In the foreground a man in a white shirt and orange dhoti with an orange shawl and a tilak on his forehead plays a small hand instrument, while beside him a man in a green shirt beats a double-headed drum. On the right a man in white plays a long wind instrument and another carries a drum. Behind them a canopy in red, orange and green fabric with orange flags is carried on poles, and a palanquin-style canopy is visible. Several people in white and yellow walk behind.2005-01-01A large outdoor procession moves along a paved road lined with palm trees under an overcast sky. At upper left, a flower-decorated palanquin with orange and gold draping is carried forward. Many men in white dhotis and kurtas walk in the crowd, several wearing orange shawls, while a group in yellow shirts and white trousers beats drums, one a round frame drum. Orange flags are raised throughout the line, and some marchers carry small placards and walking sticks. Several people at the front wear green and orange clothing. The mood is that of a pada yatra, a walking pilgrimage procession, moving along the roadside.2010-07-24
