A photograph of a homa fire burning atop a stacked brick fire pit at night. Papers and slips are feeding the flames, with glowing embers and ash on the bricks. A small golden kalasha-style vessel and a brass bowl sit at the base. Three or four people in white and red-orange garments stand behind, one holding a long wooden stick toward the fire and others tossing papers, with more scraps scattered on the ground.2014-05-21January 02 20162016-01-02April 14 20182018-04-14April 14 20182018-04-14A close photograph of a Vedic fire ritual (homa) at a fire altar built from stacked ochre-yellow bricks. Bright flames rise on the right, with white rice-like grains and scattered red and pink flower petals on top of the bricks. Several hands reach in from the left, one holding a thin white cord stretched across the bricks, while others hold bundles of grass or kusha strands. A person in white ritual clothing stands behind, and a brass lamp stand and brass vessel appear at the edges. The setting is an outdoor or open-sided ritual space with turquoise and pink fabric-covered surfaces in the background.2016-07-02April 14 20182018-04-14April 14 20182018-04-14February 22 20162016-02-22 +1 copiesApril 10 20162016-04-10 +1 copiesJuly 09 20152015-07-09April 14 20182018-04-14A close photograph of a homa fire pit built from yellow-painted brick, with bright orange flames rising from burning wood inside.
